| Course
Duration |
The
duration of the course shall be four academic years and conducted
in 8 semesters with each semester having a duration of 16
weeks. |

| Eligibility
for admission |
The applicant
should have passed Karnataka 2nd PUC / 12th std or equivalent
examination with Physics and Mathematics along with Chemistry
/ Biotechnology / Biology / Computer science / Electronics as optional subjects and obtained
a minimum of 50% of marks in aggregate in the optional subjects.
In case of candidates belonging to SC / ST / other backward
classes, the minimum marks for the purpose of eligibility
will be 45% of marks in aggregate in the optional subjects
in the qualifying examination. |

Information
Science & Engineering is a course that focuses on how information
and computing systems support business, research, and communication
needs. Instruction ranges from the basics of computer hardware to the
complex relationship between humans and computers. This course helps
to learn how to use computers to open new horizons to children without
endangering them.

Objective
As a branch of engineering, a course in Information Science to develop analytical and problem solving abilities to build solutions using information science technologies,
to develop students’ capability to anticipate and manage technological changes in the computing and allied domains. |

skills involved
Students are trained to develop excellent programming skills in various
languages such a C, C++, JAVA and Visual programming languages like VB6,
VC++, and GTK etc. They are also exposed to various operating system
environments such as DOS, WINDOWS, UNIX, LINUX, SUN SOLARIS. Throughout
the program, the students are exposed to a variety of application areas
ranging from traditional business, finance and accounting through telecommunications,
networks, multimedia and database management to computer-aided design
and industrial production management systems. |
