Department
of Biotechnology constitutes adequate fully
equipped laboratories for enabling the teaching-learning
process and strengthening the knowledge base
of all BE Biotechnology students. The labs are
designed to address the curriculum dealing with
Unit Operations, Cell Biology & Genetics,
Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Bioprcessing,
Bioinstrumentation, Immunotechnology, Bioinformatics,
Up & Down stream processing, Enzymology,
Food Biotechnology to name a few. The state-
of-art infrastructure of the labs leads to hands-on
training for students in key areas of professional
importance viz., Isolation, identification and
screening of microbes for bioremediation, primary
and Secondary metabolites, Recombinant DNA Technology
and Genetic Engineering tools, Production of
Primary &Secondary metabolites, Immunological
Diagnostic Procedures, Access and use of Molecular
Biology /Biopharmaceutical /Clinical data bases
, Plant and Animal Tissue Culture techniques,
Environmental sample analyses. An added feature
in the department is the R&D Lab, which
facilitates to undertake research and project
works by both faculty and students. It houses
the necessary infrastructure for designing and
execution of new protocols and experiments.
It is an ever expanding lab which is gaining
shape with inputs of college and funded projects.
The common focus of all the labs is to churn
BE BT students in to successful professionals
for Pharmaceuticals, health sector, Plant Biotechnology,
Bioinformatics/Clinical data mining, Diagnostic/pathological
labs, Forensic science, Clinical research programs
and Entrepreneurship sectors.
