IP
SAN TECHNOLOGY:
New
Horizon College of Engineering has become the first
technology training institute to have a storage
attached (IP SAN) network lab in the entire country.
Digital storage solutions provider, Intransa, has
set up this facility for NHCE at its campus on January
19, 2006.
IP
storage solutions radically reduce the complexity
of deploying scalable network storage. Based on
advanced technology that leverages the cost and
performance advantage of Ethernet and the ubiquity
of IP networks, The IP SAN Technology enable a new
generation of information storage, delivery, and
management over IP networks.
New
Horizon College of Engineering (NHCE) has signed
a MoU with Intransa Inc., US on 21 July 2005 with
the objective of setting up of IP SAN Lab at it's
campus to impart training for the students of NHCE
and the client executives of Intransa India.
Intransa,
the global innovator of network-centric, IP storage
solutions headquartered in San Jose, California.
Intransa is an innovator of enterprise-class, intelligent
IP storage solutions. Intransa India customers include
- MphasiS, Spice Telecom, L&T, Wipro Spectramind,
CDAC, IIT etc to name a few.
The
IP SAN Technology lab is one of the first in the
country aims at teaching the students at the college
level itself and will showcase the new technology's
advantages. The Lab is equipped with 2 IP SAN systems
-Intransa IP-3000 with 2 terabytes capacity. Both
come with StorControl Management System and the
Snapshot Software. There are also two IBM mid-range
servers attached to these storage boxes.
The
curriculum for students will familiarise the IP
SAN technology. It will also give them a first-hand
feel of major software components in an IP SAN storage
box, where each is installed and run, and key software
features such as RAID, snapshot, replication, system
logs, backups and data protection. Intransa India
and their client companies will recruit the students
at the end of IP SAN Training.
